PSYCHOLOGIST

Counseling and Psychological Services

Stanford University, a private research and teaching institution with 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students, seeks an experienced candidate for the position of Psychologist for Counseling and Psychological Services, the mental health unit of Vaden Health Center within the Division of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is fully accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services and supports the University's academic mission by providing comprehensive mental health services and programs to a diverse student body.

CAPS services are provided by an experienced multidisciplinary professional staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists.

Responsibilites: This is a 12 month, full-time continuing appointment reporting to an Associate or Assistant Director of CAPS. Primary clinical duties include conducting intake evaluations, individual brief therapy, couples therapy, group therapy and psycho-educational groups for university students. Additionally, the Psychologist will evaluate and respond to emergency situations during on-call coverage, including some nights and weekends. Evening work is part of the schedule for this position.

This position combines generalist clinical duties with emphasis in working with specific student populations (Chicano/Latino, Native American, or LGBT) and/or experience in providing specific clinical interventions (CBT or DBT).

The Psychologist will support CAPS psychology trainees and psychiatry residents by providing clinical supervision and consultation, as well as conducting seminars and in-service trainings.

Other duties include campus outreach through educational programming and additional program development that has mental health implications. The Psychologist is expected to carry out other delegated administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications: Licensed Psychologist in California or license eligible,. This position requires highly developed clinical skills in evaluation, crisis intervention, short-term/solution-focused therapy, knowledge of adolescent and young adult development, and experience and commitment to working with a diverse student population. The Psychologist must demonstrate skills in consultative work with professional colleagues and other staff, in addition to strong written and oral communication skills. Desirable qualifications include experience with the psychological and developmental needs of young adults, as well as teaching and supervisory experience.

FULL TIME FALCULTY POSITION
Wright Institute, Berkeley
MA Program

The Wright Institute, located in Berkeley, CA is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty member in its Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology Program. The MA Program at the Wright provides students with the education and clinical skills necessary to gain licensure in CA as a marriage and family therapist (MFT). The program is geared for adult learners, with significant life experience, who are not able to attend a degree program that requires weekday attendance. All courses in the program are offered on weekends.

The full-time faculty member will teach a minimum of four classes per year. Teaching responsibilities include course design, creation of syllabus, weekend instruction (Friday evening through Sunday evening) for a minimum of eight weekends per year (2 weekends = 1 three unit class), grading, and construction of questions for the comprehensive exam. The full-time faculty member will also help facilitate and/or organize monthly three-hour Saturday Seminars. S/he will attend faculty meetings and other required faculty functions such as Open House, New Student Orientation, and Graduation, and s/he will help administer and/or score the comprehensive exam. The full-time faculty member will work closely with the MA Program Director to help with the development, evaluation, and improvement of the comprehensive exam, the curriculum, and the overall program. S/he will have substantial involvement in accreditation and other program review activities. In addition, the full-time core faculty member will assist the Program Director in ensuring that students receive the highest possible level of supervised clinical training. The full-time core faculty member will collaborate with practicum and internship training agencies to ensure agencies are providing quality clinical experience, supervision, and training; and s/he will work to recruit and develop new practicum and internship training sites for MA students. The full-time core faculty member will be responsible for advising and monitoring the professional development of first year students applying for practica and second year students applying for internships: helping students clarify their clinical goals, making appropriate recommendations to training sites, helping students with the application and interview process, and intervening to help students work through any difficulties that may arise during the training year.

Qualifications: A masters or doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited program, licensed or license eligible in CA to practice clinical psychology or marriage and family therapy. Candidates must have experience teaching at the graduate level, a demonstrated ability to provide students with appropriate guidance and support in the realm of clinical activity, strong organization and communication skills, and a commitment to incorporating issues of diversity into all aspects of their work.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Southern California Counseling Center*

Founded in 1966, the mission of the Southern California Counseling Center is to provide psychological counseling to those of limited income, to develop and maintain programs that respond o the ever-changing psychological needs of our multicultural community, and to provide exceptional counselor training within a supportive environment.

The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight to the Counseling Center’s mental health and social service programs; program design and direction; family therapy training design and direction; consultation and support to interns, counselors, practitioners and supervisors; develops and implements in-service training for clinical programs and services; develops policies and procedures to ensure quality client services and care; may provide direct client care; supervision of all social services, mental health and clinical programs; clinical supervision of counselors and staff; participates in the development and control of program budgets; participates in grants development; and programs to retain volunteers, interns, counselors, supervisors and clinical staff.

Must have a degree and license in psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy (i.e., MFT, LCSW, or Ph. D), minimum 5 years direct practice experience, and experience in program administration, training direction, and working with a volunteer-driven organization.

Qualified candidate's clinical experience will place a strong emphasis on family and systems theory and cultural accountability. Strongly desired qualifications: CAMFT/AAMFT Approved Supervisor status; cultural diversity and multi-lingual skills a plus.

Reports to the Executive Director; member of the senior management team; participates in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and programs.
