Maricela Gamboa
University of La Verne Student Representative

Maricela Gamboa is a 2nd year Psy.D. student in Clinical-Community Psychology at the University of La Verne in Southern California. She is currently in practicum at Project Sister Family Services in Pomona, CA, an agency dedicated to providing services to the women, children, and men survivors of sexual assault and abuse, and their families. In 2006, she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Psychology. Her research and professional interests are in Latino mental health issues. Maricela is currently involved in research with Aghop Der-Karabetian, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology and Associate Dean at the University of La Verne, investigating potential predictors of the pursuit of post-secondary education plans among Latino youth. Maricela has also co-facilitated parenting and women’s support groups in Spanish for the Latino community in the City of Claremont, CA. Some of her academic and professional goals include continuing to expand her knowledge and experience in working with the Latino community.
